Observation Narrative
This plot occupies a slightly elevated terrace along Slabcamp Run, and represents secondary, red spruce dominated forest typical of elevation stream head areas on the Allegheny Mountain east slope. Soils here are primarily moderately well drained, with an inclusion of somewhat poorly drained soil along a low seep in the northern part of the plot. As a result, the vegetation contains some wetland species, although terrestrial species predominate. Measured trees in plot (dbh in cm.): Picea rubens (45,35,31), Tsuga canadensis (40,28), Acer rubrum (28,28).
